full tilt #2: "dancing away from home"

"full tilt #2" is the second zine i read from megan (after "clark 8"). i awaited this zine with much anticipation because i am in love with "clark 8". unfortunately, "full tilt #1" is out of stock :( i would LOVE to read it- perhaps one day i will find $10 to get megan to run another load off ;)

turns out, i love this zine too. it is a long zine (40 pages), sprinkled with photos of megan as a young ballerina. the topic is exactly as the title suggests: "dancing away from home". megan went to study dance when she was in 8th grade at the virginia school of the arts and this zine tells what it was like, and why she left.

megan writes clearly and everything flows- it is a very professional zine. according to page 40 "this zine has been written as part of a 48-hour zine challenge..." which only adds to how talented she is, considering "it has not been edited in any way." i particularly enjoyed the latter part of "full tilt" where megan details why she left and body image issues at the school.

"full tilt" is definitely not a disappointing second offering from megan, as with "clark 8" she takes something simple which happened in her life, that happens to many people, and makes it interesting. that's no easy feat- think of how many books/livejournals/whatever you have read about somebody's life and felt bored to tears! another wonderful zine; well done =D
