green zine 13

cristy's green zine 13 is the thickest zine i have ever held. it is crammed full of writing and pages full of some pretty impressive cartoons. although it is mostly writings, the cartoons give it an edge which most zines i have read thus far don't have. very cool.

it took me ages to get through this zine, but it really is worth it. some of the writing is typed, some is handwritten. there is an enormous amount of material in here. most of it is written by cristy herself but she also includes some pieces written by her friends, all of which are fantastic. the variety is a really good idea since this is such a huge zine (it's like a book of different pieces of prose!) one of my favourite pieces was written by sarah, and it is all about what life is, and taking it as it comes. i also loved what kimberly wrote which is all about southern women and her relationship with her cousin elizabeth, amongst other things.

cristy's writing is a real pleasure to read; i was drawn in by her writing. she covers a lot of topics, my favourite one being "growth and sex". the whole zine is about independence and gender and overcoming sexual assault and as she puts it at the start of her zine: "...reoccuring theme of strength".

very powerful. order this before you buy another book!
