this is my first issue of "hotel chaotica" and i think i read about it through lila #1, but i'm not quite sure. getting a zine from a new author is really exciting because everybody's style is so unique, you never know quite what to expect.
needless to say, i really enjoyed reading a zine by somebody new. this "somebody" is sara, who was born in portugal but moved to canada when she was 9. her zine is packed with prose, poetry, opinion pieces and reviews. i enjoyed "writing is not a stone" and "lipstick" the most. her writing is so young and pretty, yet not naive, not immature. i loved the youthful feel to it, not jaded, just honest.
i think i am going to have to send sara some more postcards for issue #1 ;) it was a pleasure to read her writing.
